Social Media

creating engaging online experiences

Social Media is a part of everyday life. Whether your are a member of these different communities or not, your potential audience is, and you are going to need to be where they are. Being able to successfully reach your target market requires an understanding of who your audience is, and what their social habits consist of. For example, let’s say you have a product to sell, and your main shopper is a younger millennial? Well you likely wouldn’t want to waste your time or money crafting social media posts for Facebook. While you may want to run a small bit of content there, your focus should be on platforms where these younger millennials are spending more time. More than Facebook? Yes, actually statistics have shown the younger demographics actually spent less time on Facebook over the last 5 years than older demographics. This younger audience is spending more of their time surfing every other social platform including Instagram, Snapchat, Pinterest, and Twitter.

  • FACEBOOK
The Facebook effect. This was the beginning of a world of change for the online community. A way to connect with other people, and eventually leading to a way for companies to connect with potential buyers for their business. Facebook continues to be one of the most successful and socially impactful platforms than many of the others today. While the audience has shifted over the years, Facebook continues to have millions of daily users who you can easily get in front of to begin a successful social media drive for your business.

  • INSTAGRAM
Now owned by Facebook, and just in time for the start of the new hashtag craze, Instagram was born and leveraged itself as a community where users could upload and share pictures, and eventually videos. Built entirely on an idea of connecting and engaging visually, this platform has grown since its debut in 2010, to more 800 million active users today. Being able to leverage this community and engage with users visually requires a crafty skill for remaining creatively original as well as consistent.

  • TWITTER
Focused on online news and networking, and the first platform to adopt the use of the hashtag, Twitter creates a place for users to post short blurbs also known as “tweets”. Over the years, twitter has become a popular platform for the general public with some of its most engaging users consisting of students, politicians, policymaking activist groups, and communities alike. Users can also connect with brands and businesses creating an open platform for customer service and communications.

  • YOUTUBE
Debuting back in 1997, and known today to attract more searches than Google, YouTube has become not just a place for users to watch videos. It has also become an instrumental part of the educational community as well as a place for businesses to promote their products and services in one of the most impactful ways, video. Having the ability to watch a video, and see something in action helps users feel they are making more informed decisions and subsequently increases your chances of converting visitors to purchasers. This is a place where you can showoff and even help to answer questions and alleviate pain-points for your audience.

  • GOOGLE+
Owned and operated by Google, Google Plus, also stylized as Google+, is the fourth generation social network of its kind. While use of the network was much higher during its early years, this is still a powerful platform in which you likely will want to have a presence. Having a Google+ business page will allow users to more easily find your company since google allows you to create your own profile which can include important company information typically shown in search results.

  • LINKEDIN
With over 100 million users, LinkedIn is considered to be one of the most influential business networking sites today. LinkedIn is not considered a traditional social media site, and with that said, has its own purpose for connecting and engaging with its users. From helping form relationships with other potential clients and vendors, to even those actively looking for job seekers, business owners should have a presence on LinkedIn to help continue to make meaningful connections throughout the business world.
